Sexually aroused but can’t Cum

Posted in Erectile Dysfunction,Male Low Libido by Head Boy on the January 20th, 2010

Sexually aroused but can’t ejaculate – increase your sperm production naturally

Approximately one in ten men find that despite being very turned on and sexually aroused (evident by a hard erection) they are unable to reach a climax (orgasm) and ejaculate when having sexual intercourse with their partner. They are confident that the problem isn’t related to their health because they are able to ejaculate during masturbation. The inability for a man to orgasm and ejaculate while having sex with a partner is called delayed ejaculation.

The good news about this problem is that delayed ejaculation is fairly common and while some men are too afraid to discuss their ejaculation issues with other men for fear of ridicule or not appearing ‘manly’ others have been bold enough to discuss their concerns openly.

The open debate on delayed ejaculation is very welcome as it reassures men with this condition and their worried partners that they are not alone and that there are ways to improve ejaculation performance.

My wife/girlfriend is worried because I don’t ejaculate every time we have sex.

Women can feel insecure about themselves, their body image as well as their sexual performance, if their male partner does not come (orgasm and ejaculate) during sex. This can have a knock-on effect on the woman’s enthusiasm for sex. It is thus advisable to talk about the fears and reassure your partner that she is not the problem. However if you do feel that lack of stimulation of the penis head is the reason you can’t ejaculate, don’t be afraid to instruct your partner in technique. Done sensitively this can be fun and bring both of you closer together.

Reason’s why some men can’t ejaculate (cum) during sex

  • Some men claim to experience less sensitivity in the penis during sexual intercourse than they do from other forms of sex, this includes masturbation. This might be because the man has learned a specific technique for arousing himself and ‘getting off’ thus making other forms of stimulation unsatisfactory.
  • One myth is that excessive masturbation coupled with watching a lot of porn can lead to a lack of sensitivity when having sexual intercourse. There is however no evidence to support this as many men who masturbate frequently and watch porn frequently do not report difficulties ejaculating during sex.
  • Stress, anxiety and tiredness can reduce the likelihood of being ‘able to finish’ properly as can lack of enthusiasm for sex in the first place.
  • Sometimes men have sex with their partners to please their partners and despite having a hard and sustained erection; they can’t relax and enjoy themselves enough to be able to orgasm.
  • Fears of unwanted pregnancy can prevent some men from ejaculating, while anxiety about wanting to have a baby can also prevent them from ejaculating. Thus ‘babies’ whether you want them or do not want them, can be a factor with delayed ejaculation.
  • Fear of letting go, intimacy issues, childhood trauma, believing that sex is dirty etc. can also cause problems for the man during sex.
  • Some men can’t orgasm when wearing a condom as they say the condom reduces sensitivity in their penis.
  • Men who have a sexual fetish can often not orgasm without that fetish element being present during sex. Dryness of the vagina can result in soreness of the penis head as well as the man feeling less aroused as he feels his partner is not properly aroused. This can also result in delayed ejaculation.
  • In some rare cases there might be a medical cause for delayed ejaculation and if you suspect this at all, a visit to the GP is advised.

Tips to prevent delayed ejaculation.

If you feel your problem is psychological and based on issues relating to your childhood, it might be a good idea to discuss these issues with your GP or a counselor. If however you are confident your lack of ejaculation is due to not being sufficiently aroused, perhaps delay sexual intercourse until you are feeling aroused as oppose to merely ‘obliging’ your partner. A loving partner would prefer that you were both in the ‘zone’ before having sex and this shouldn’t cause a problem.

Remember, you are not alone. This is a common concern and the more you worry about it the more likely it is that you’ll have a problem, so relax, have fun and try not to make orgasm the end goal!
